I have been working at Kabam full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Benefits are nice, and free for individual. Many veteran developers reside in the studio. CEO is down to earth and not a egomaniac. Beginning to differentiate game development genres. Willing to take more junior staff, which is nice to have a balance of senior and junior.

Cons

Everything revolves around how quickly the product can monetize, no acknowledgement of long term investment, only short term. Management often times is making odd decisions, and inconsiderate decisions to employees and users. Pay raises and career opportunities come rarely for some, very often to others (who suck up).

Advice to Management

To not down manage their teams so much, team motivation can so wonders. Also, acknowledge that other companies are looking at their employees too; lost a lot of really good developers because of this.

    Cons

Management usually don't even pay attention to you if you are hired on without a VP or Director title. Some people I encountered during my time there were extremely rude, especially those with VP titles. No eye contacts when they try to talk to you. Sending you e-mails to ask you to work on projects even though you don't report directly to them. Not even a "thank you" after you've helped them out with a task. Learn how to respect everyone, not just the CEO. What comes around goes around. Karma is a...

I have been working at Kabam full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible hours, generally a fun atmosphere, a low barrier to entry if you are looking for a place to start in the industry.

    Cons

Completely data driven with zero innovation happening. There's internal competition across the studios. There is no CTO and no shared knowledge among the engineers across the company; it's an 'every team for themselves' motto when creating a new game. Every team operates differently and there's a lot of role/team shifting.

    Advice to Management

They need a CTO to help boost their technology and create shared tools, rather than each team recreating the same feature for every single game.
