I worked at Kaiser Permanente as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

The culture of employee care is not just lip service or a recruiting tactic, they truly care about the balance of employees lives and work.

Cons

The money at Kaiser is spent strictly on the patient experiences- a GOOD thing- but it makes life a little harder on the administrative side.

Advice to Management

Invest in updated software and processes and improve your HR processes so that it doesn't take months to bring on new employees. Kaiser loses out of great hires because of the seriously slow HR processes.

    Pros

Provides a decent benefit package; large company so they offer a variety of programs to employees; opportunities to transfer within company.

    Cons

Raises are minimal unless in senior management; Talks a good game about wanting employees to thrive but doesn't back up in reality; managers lack basic human management skills and the enterprise doesn't care.

    Advice to Management

Part of your job is to manage people - recognize and embrace that fact.

I worked at Kaiser Permanente full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is always plenty to do!

    Cons

I've never seen such waste of time and money. Long-time entrenched executives bungle nearly everything they touch and generally hold IT accountable for the lack of leadership. In the meantime, the only success in IT is measured by cost cutting rather than exemplary stewardship.

    Advice to Management

Get some real IT managers who can stand up to the business execs and actually partner witjh (&lead) business execs and partner to get things done rather than cut what's already been bungled.
