I have been working at Kaplan University full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Benefits package from Washington Post was strong compared to most proprietary schools. Has a true pension plan if you can last more than three years. Health insurance is tiered based on your salary. Work life was descent. Nothing from work to bring home. When you are finished for the day, you are finished for the day.

Cons

Call center environment/ Online programs are too easy with questionable educational results. Overall atmosphere was high pressure sales to clients and representatives. You live by the time clock as every possible metric is measured, analyzed and used to "train you" Bathroom breaks are timed by Orion. If you are gone to long you will have a conversation with your DOA or ADOA when you return.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Kaplan University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Completely online, never have to leave my home to attend meetings or teach house, no need to commute, arrange childcare, etc. Most of the students are wonderful and very diligent.

    Cons

The pay for large classes is the same as for much smaller classes. Same pay for 9 students as 30. Some of the students are not prepared.

    Advice to Management

Change the salary scale to be more fair. Teaching a class with 25+ students is extremely time-consuming and difficult and should be compensated accordingly.

I worked at Kaplan University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The potential salary could be very attractive and aggressive.

    Cons

Higher salary also translated to higher goals and could very easily mean losing your position if you could not meet those goals. The company doesn't treat it's employee's very well and pressures them to perform which leads to fraud.

    Advice to Management

Grow the school organically opposed to high pressure tactics and big sales forces. Education is not another widget and you can not sales school, you can only present the option to potential students. It is still not determined that a 80k debt for education leads to a better life in America.
