I have been working at Katy ISD full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

KISD has the reputation for being one of the top, progressive districts in the state. Working here looks great on a resume and there are quite a few talented people in administration.

Cons

Politics are an integral part of the job and it is astonishing to see who is promoted and who is not. The Peter Principle is in full effect (people rise to their level of incompetence). The district is not as progressive as they think. The elitist attitude of upper management gets old.

I have been working at Katy ISD (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work at one of the better schools in the district, so I get really great kids. The facilities are great, and equipment, technology too.

    Cons

Well you can go to another district to make a little more money depending. Keep in mind that teachers do not make a ton of money. I put in a lot of hours not just for teacher and grading, but coaching as well.

    Advice to Management

There seems to be a lot, too much paper work, and red tape to get things done. When we are doing BS paper work, instead of preparing good lessons.

    Pros

Katy ISD offers paying positions with benefits. They operate under the same structure as any other large school district in Texas

    Cons

Katy ISD makes employment decisions based solely on seniority (or the number of sports the employee coaches).

    Advice to Management

Make decisions based on employee quality, not years of service.
