Pros

It is the SOLE contractor currently operating the Robins AFB type IIA Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL). As a PMEL technician, you get to work in your preferred / selected vocation in your preferred / selected geographic location.

Cons

As the SOLE contractor currently operating the Robins AFB type IIA Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL), a PMEL technician has ZERO choice as to the contractor (your employer) you will be working for (the contractor is selected by the USAF), nor do you have a voice in operations. It is truly a "take it or leave it" scenario. One day you may be working for a "good" company, the next day - when a new contract is set - you may be working for someone with a worse attitude. There is also a lot of leeway contractors have to ensure that they "comply" with the Service Contract Act, and they play lots of games, mostly the kind profitable for them.

Advice to Management

Include the employees in the management process, they have a lot of good ideas!; Listen to them!

    Pros

    great health and vacation benefits. You also get to celebrate all the Muslim religious holidays. Travel from the region is cheap. Trust me you'll need to get out of there for a few days.

    Cons

    Management is weak and don't care about employees or aviation safety. They are yes men for the customer and are not looking out for the employees.

    Advice to Management

    Grow some and don't put the lives of your employees in jeopardy. Pay then what they deserve and give the more senior technicians some respect. Raise the cost of living expense.

    Salary is good if you can put up with the management.

    Cons

    Management is horrible. Company does not care about its personnel. No upward mobility.
