I have been working at Kellogg Company full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Traveling. Independence. Work day is usually over by 5 or 6pm during the week. Free cookies and crackers. Co-workers (when you get to actually work with them).

Cons

Communication from TM's and DTM is very poor at times. Working odd hours on Saturdays. No time for advanced training for movement in the company because of working independently and busy, long hours. Auto reimbursement program, lots of miles put on your own vehicle.

Advice to Management

Communication, communication. Take the time to train the willing it will pay off for the company in the long run.

I have been working at Kellogg Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Say what you want about the location, but the people it attracts are earnest, down to earth, hardworking, and fun. People into bling and superficial BS won't spend much time in Battle Creek.

The company has a great portfolio of brands and is marketing oriented. If you are willing to ride out the rough patches, you can have a good career.

    Cons

They are in a tough spot right now. Cereal is a breakfast food for the Western world and the populations are declining in those countries. They will have to figure out what they are going to market in places like Africa where the population is growing.

When business results head south, a mass talent exodus follows, meaning you are left with less talented folks to try and find your way out of the darkness. It can get very dark in Battle Creek. Within the last 13 years (prior to a good run), the company actually considered selling off the cereal business. Crazy? That's how dark it can get in the Creek.

    Advice to Management

Innovate, market, figure out how to sell in the growing countries. Cutting costs only goes so far, you can either slowly become a smaller, profitable company, or you can fight for growth, but that takes courage and potentially missing numbers with the street. But the other choice is surrender to a slow death.

I have been working at Kellogg Company part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people and genuine belief in Corporate mission

    Cons

As an intern, not given a very steady workflow.

    Advice to Management

Hire analytic-savvy sales staff, the current sales employees will fall behind other vendors if they don't begin to understand data better.
