I worked at Kellogg Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company, the culture, the people. As a Retail Sales Manager, I loved the flexibility and not being in the same place for 8+ hours a day, you feel like you're running your own business. It can be fun to interact with store personnel and other vendors. There are good ones that make the day fun.

    Cons

No work/life balance. In California, you aren't supposed to merch more than 5% of your time, but you get written up if you go over in labor so many reps merch 20-30%, it's necessary to come close to hitting budget. long hours! I used to work as many as 18 in one day. Management doesn't help with problem stores, they let you get yelled at and harassed on a daily basis, from store personal and sometimes other vendors. Pay isn't worth it. Early mornings, be prepared for 3-5am starts if you want to avoid phone calls. Moving up is too political, you have to know the right people and they have to be on your side it's a big game that gets exhausting. They will always find a way to not promote you.

    Advice to Management

Realize that some people ARE doing their job and they can't control if consumers are actually buying. I once had over 10 incremental displays but they were in a slow store that just didn't sell.

I have been working at Kellogg Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair medical coverage but the cost escalates faster than pay raises. Got a lot of experience in the food industry.

    Cons

High stress environment, no opportunities for advancement without relocating, would rather higher in from outside for open positions. Many unkept promises. Added responsibilities of a job that is 2 levels higher and continued to pay me at the lower level. The only token of appreciation for the entire year is a big bag of kellogg product at the holidays. No party, no gift, no 'Thanks'.

    Advice to Management

Return to the days of valuing your employees, investing in them and helping them advance for their hard work vs. using them to death.
