I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers no other pros

    Cons

The hospital I work at is very busy. Loved the job at first but the better employee you are the more work they give you. Was told I need to be available 24/7 but then they tell you "no overtime". The benefits are some of the worst I have seen. $4000 deductible for me and my daughter before insurance pays anything and it costs me $300 a month for just 2 people. No matching 401k, no raises in several years for anyone. Seems like it's nothing but th bottom line for them.

    Advice to Management

Give employees decent wages and benefits. No opportunity to learn. Just work work work

I worked at Kindred Healthcare as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Constant travel and variety. Weekly pay via your contract house, fun and energetic coworkers. That's where the pros end.

    Cons

The IS travel department has way too much power. For example, if you submit your itinerary correctly so they can book you, if it's returned to you with mistakes and you don't catch them, you are blamed by management. Since you can be fired for travel mixups this is a big deal. Also, you can get fired or laid off anytime the wind blows. IS Trainers are dispensible to them and they make no apologies about it. You are constantly on pins and needles at this place. As soon as you get hired, put your resume out there.

    Advice to Management

Other than firing themselves, they could stand to learn people skills and professionalism. Using foul language to your staff and calling people idiots on conference calls is trashy and does not motivate anyone to do a decent job.
