I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Northgate staff professional and competent. They care for patients like they are family. They care for each other like you are family.

Cons

First Hill is a horror story from the top down. Staff try to deliver care but management is on a power trip. Highly unprofessional, dangerously controlling and scary.

Advice to Management

Get rid of the entire First Hill management team. Let the Northgate group run it. For Mr. Diaz, open your eyes - that West Coast region is corrupt.

I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

HR procedure was pretty straight forward and took about 2 weeks.

    Cons

Company needs to be more truthful when providing info about current nurse/pt ratio. Staffing in the vent-managed unit can be up to 1:5 NOT 1:4 that was reported when asked. Orientation process was backward. I was thrown out on the floor w/o access to policies/procedures that I would have had an opportunity to review during hospital orientation.

    Advice to Management

"Putting the cart before the horse", so to speak NEVER works. Take the time to invest in your employees the right way, the first time. That is the way an organized successful company does things, and will reap the benefits of satisfied, productive employees.

I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked with some very nice people

    Cons

Management micromanages and lies. They spy on you. They tell you they have expectations and then they change them. They are all about covering their own asses.

    Advice to Management

Better training from the start. Dont throw people out to the wolves then try to backtrack later. Take responsibilty.
