Pros

Management really cares about the quality of our products, and relationships with both customers and employees. It's a high growth company both in revenue and learning.....we're learning together even faster than we're growing in revenues. Management and almost everyone seem to be very, very committed to a common set of behavioral values. That's really unique and makes it a great place.

Cons

We're still learning so not everything is perfect or goes perfectly. IT systems still need further work, some departments have great leadership, other's just so-so but we're getting better every day.

Advice to Management

Stay the course. Keep focusing on our relationship with the people who love our brands and on making this a great place for great people to work.

I have been working at King's Hawaiian as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Management is helpful with functions

    Cons

After 10 hours stastics indicate that your body mentally does not function. Workers comp increases and productivity decreases

    Advice to Management

Get back to a 10 or 8 hour shift before productivity is decreased and accidents happen. Study your stats. Diversity training is necessary in today’s environment. Respect for people. You need a mosaic of cultures but a little training

I have been working at King's Hawaiian full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many of the employees still represent Ohana, Malama, and Aloha spirit. Improved benifits for new year is a good sign, and displays effort the company is making to take care of its employees. Wellness Program is reflected by the many events in support of good causes and providing awareness to the employees. The plant employees, retail employees, and corporate employees with entry level positions feel they are being taking care of, but the Pros stop there.

    Cons

As the company has been growing over the years, the clear picture is that the core values are diminishing, always being preached vs actually being demenstrated within management at all levels. It is obvious that the family has trusted the leadership to continue to do business exactly as it was when the company was just a small family business, but this illusion is far and gone. The current leadership hides behind personal agendas as the company spirals downward. The HR team has the insight, but is so preoccupied with the issues within the team, back stabbing, gossiping and simply the lack of real leadership to focus and advise the family on a solid course of action. It is obvious that the focus in leadership is on what the next higher up wants, and keeping them happy. As much money that is spent on training on a yearly basis, it is only training until someone assures it is being applied.

    Advice to Management

Wake up!!!! before the company crumbles.
Reminder that the processors, packers and restaurant host are equally imortant in the success of the company.
HR has to demonstrate they really care about the employees, they need to be approachable and not give the impression they are being inconvenienced by questions or concerns.
Family has to focus on the whole picture, not just the frames that make a profit.
