Pros

Nice break room, co workers easy going. the work was not that hard and it was a good start for a resume. Could wear mostly casual clothes to work

Cons

no pay increases, job was tedious and sometimes stressful.

Advice to Management

Walmart is tearing you apart, you either have to offer better prices or better publicity

I worked at Kmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are usually decent people. Most (70%) of customers tend to be alright. Work environment wasn't completely terrible.

    Cons

Management expects a gold standard while paying for bronze. Corporate expectations don't match in-store reality. Store technology is incredibly old and breaks down often, leaving employees in bad positions. No room for advancement, no raises given for several years (with "promises" that it might be better next year.) Vacation is "earned" based on hours worked and not years with the company.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your stores. Throw out the fifty year old registers and update them. Replace the yellow smoke coated drop ceiling panels, re-paint the crusty walls. Give raises and promotions to employees that deserve it. Change that ridiculous vacation policy. Your employees are clearly not happy, and unhappy employees only leads to unhappy customers. Believe in your staff, make the stores better, and you'll see a turnaround.

I worked at Kmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job was easy and with little to no experience anyone could pick up on the tasks easily. The hiring process was also easy along with the interview process.

    Cons

You are left on your own with little to no help on the registers. Customers always go to the cashiers for assistance and at times the cashiers do not always have the answer. Then you are left with running around the whole place looking for a manager.

    Advice to Management

Train better and stop employing nimrods.
