I have been working at Kmart part-time (More than a year)

Pros

They treat people with respect and dignity. They really are a great company to work for.

Cons

Minimum wage pay just doesn't add up too well. Even 10% above minimum would be an improvement.

Advice to Management

Keep the morale up!

I worked at Kmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

At my location we had great managers who were fun to work with...as long as you talked with them everyday.
It was a very laid back job and position.
Everyone there (Managers and Loss Prevention included) hated the company so much it was hilarious.
I was promoted to Dept. Lead in a year (without a wage increase of course.)

    Cons

If you didn't know the managers/ or they didn't like you, expect to work 3 hours a day, monday-sunday closing.
Morale was so poor, everyone was stealing and slacking, including Loss Prevention and managers. Even had a manager tell me once "Don't work too hard, because you are not getting a raise anytime soon, I've been here for 6 years and never got one myself!"

    Advice to Management

Paying everyone at the store level at least a competitive wage would probably produce higher morale across the board and save you money in the long run. Also, renovate your older stores, you cannot expect to sell much food when there is a dead rat in the middle of the pantry isle.
