I worked at Kmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you like getting employee discounts on items, this is a good place to work at. Hours are flexible depending on your schedule, staff is mostly friendly, management could have used some work. Lots of variety in the work you do depending on what you're doing in the store.

    Cons

Being severely understaffed and having a high turnover rate makes this company incredibly difficult to maintain a positive outlook with at times. Pay rate was not very good, considering that in the 3 years I worked there, I received no raises, due to management blaming Sears Holdings not allowing raises. If you are looking to work your way up through a company, it may be more feasible to work at a busier city's Kmart than a lower productivity one.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees more - a lot of them are not there to milk the timeclock; they just want to do their job and go home. STOP MICRO-MANAGING employees. All this does is create frustration and unrest among the masses. Treat employees (underlings) with respect, and you as a manager will be respected back.
