I worked at Kohl's part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

The associates and management are all very nice and willing to pitch in and/or teach. This is a good position for a few extra dollars, but with the amount of work you do, the pay is just not suffice.

Cons

Not enough training, pay is very low, they don't give you too many hours. You're lucky if you get over 15.

Advice to Management

Offer your new associates more training. Orientation should be structured better to give ample time for a thorough tour of the store and its staff. The rate of pay for POS vs Customer Service should not be the same. Customer Service Associates should be paid more than POS because the responsibilities are much greater. And last but not least, don't hire so many associates if the most you can give them is 15hrs. In this economy, people need jobs that will give them the salary and the hours. You will continue to lose staff if you don't supply them with their needs.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are great, but a lot of paperwork to get one thing done.

    Cons

Very departmentalized, dress code is ridiculous. Hard to communicate on a personal level as everything is done through email & there is much miscommunication.

    Advice to Management

Let people cross train & be involved.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large, stable employer in the Wisconsin area. Many new projects being thrown in every year. Increased IT spending.

    Cons

Looking to outsource to fix every problem. Way under staffed in certain areas, many roles are not backfilled. Poor upper management visibility. Very political. Very large company. Crazy night hours for store deployments.
