I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Everyone treats each other like family. Very flexible job. Great managers.

Cons

Pay is low. High credit expectation.

Advice to Management

Don't push credit too much, drives customers away.

I have been working at Kohl's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are great discounts for the employees. If you're in school or have a second job, they work well with your schedule.

    Cons

Very close to zero chance of moving up if they like you where you're at (ie, cash office),

I have been working at Kohl's part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

As a part timer they work well with work life balance in scheduling. Able to pick up hours from other employees that need their shifts covered.

    Cons

Can work as little as 4 hours a week or as many as 40. No consistency in the scheduling whatsoever. Must be available 24 hours a day to get any hours. You get yelled at if you don't make your daily credit goal. Management plays favoritism when it comes to "promoting" to full time...passing up well qualified individuals to "promote" younger employees with no intention of staying because they are younger and more "hip" (even though our last two home and kids supervisors were also full time college students). It's taken me 9 years to get my pay up to $10.55 an hour. No benefits anymore to part timers (thanks to universal healthcare).

    Advice to Management

Stop the favoritism. The store would run much much smoother if you put well qualified employees in the full time positions, not ones that look pretty. As a customer I want an employee who knows their stuff more than I want a good looking one. Also, store management needs to learn more in the day to day operations. The store I work at, the managers don't even know how to do certain tasks.
