I worked at L'Occitane part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

- Great product

- Involved in various charitable pursuits (though somewhat vague as to how much)

- Environmentally conscious

- Cool sales associates

- Relatively manageable dress code

- Tons of samples

- Great employee discount

Cons

- Unrealistic sales goals

- Demoralizing, clueless management (the product and their titles)

- Trained to twist the arm of the customer to buy and creating low return customer rate

- On-call, especially if they're trying to get rid of you and give you no shifts

- Having to sell in a robotic, formulaic way that values perkiness over knowledge or overall rapport with customers

- Told to lie to customers about how natural everything is (there are still parabens and other manufactured preservatives in various products) as well as "not testing on animals" (China requires every beauty product to be tested on animals, having supplies shipped to a third party is still participating in animal testing whether company owned or not.)

- Group sales, but places significant value in individual sales goals that can't be tracked due to sales floor zoning

- Customers who will fight tooth and nail for samples and never buy anything

- Non-incentive incentives

- Registers that regularly freeze and shut down which will make customers storm out before finishing the transaction

- For a company all about environmental concerns, have never seen one recycling bin in these stores

- Spend a large percentage of time teaching people how to pronounce the name or fending off "Comment allez-vous?"

Advice to Management

Create sales goals that make sense, pay attention to who sells vs. who creates an ideal image of the company

    I worked at L'Occitane part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company provides many paid trainings for new products and sales strategies, the product is eco-friendly and fair-trade, management is supportive and flexible

    Cons

Some of the sales techniques from the European standard do not translate very well to the states, the price of the product is very high so meeting sales goals is not always easy.

I have been working at L'Occitane part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    High quality products
    Not physically demanding work

    Cons

For having to be a key holder, direct responsibility for how the store does as a whole (conversion, sales, atv) the pay is insanely low.
    Corporate can be manipulative.
    Catty upper management
Employees not treated like real people

    Advice to Management

Treat sales associates with more respect, give pay that correlates with amount of work we put in,
