I have been working at LA Fitness part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Positive, laid-back environment
Access to all LA Fitness facilities
Opportunity to build relationships with regulars
Doesn't require a strenuous amount of work
Environment naturally promotes improved knowledge of fitness/ nutrition because of the job setting as well as the people you work with
    Opportunity to make commission

    Cons

There are more than a few shady sales counselors, and you will inevitably have to deal with the consequences when members are angry about misrepresentations or just straight lies about what their membership does/ does not entail
Pay is decent; certainly not enough to live off of
Work atmosphere is not always professional; this may initially seem like a perk to some, until you have employees doing shady things, not showing up for appointments when they say they will, being dishonest with people regarding their memberships...and you're the one standing at the front desk having to answer for their behavior.
A lot of Operations Managers who are directly above you will require you to make phone calls to members who have balances due on their accounts if you're not busy. This potentially makes you a small commission but a lot of times these people no longer want to be members, so many phone calls end with you getting yelled/ cursed at.

    Advice to Management

As important as making money is, you should spend more time in the clubs listening to what the members want instead of just pushing your sales counselors to bring in more and more money. We consistently lose members because of sub-standard cleanliness or customer service because these things aren't considered nearly as important as bringing in revenue.
