Pros
I had fun and learned so much while working for this company. Unfortunately when COVID hit and everything was temporarily shutdown I was forced to take the experience and skills I obtained here elsewhere. In the end I benefited and I thank this company for it 🙏
Cons
As with most jobs you're always going to come across a small group of individuals who have a scarcity mindset similar to crabs in a bucket. Which to be frank is more of a society issue then company's fault. God bless them.
free membership, free CPR certification, get to meet a lot of people including regulars, potential personal training discount, dynamic role, systems already in place, managers get benefits, weekends off unless something comes up.
Cons
low pay, difficult to hire operations staff at ridiculously low wages (which affects the front desk, kids club, and cleanliness of the gym), raises are rare, only 6 hours of training for front desk staff then almost no schedule overlap with them for paid ongoing training, basically on-call all operating hours in case of emergency or if staff does not show up without additional compensation, building and equipment frequently breaking down, was not allowed a job posting to replace a problematic full-time employee until they proclaimed that they were leaving, there will always be unhappy members no matter what decision you make and they will make sure you know they're unhappy, the cancellation policy makes it difficult to cancel and that creates conflict, you're also obligated to call members when their payments don't go through (collections) so that's more conflict, some of the people who work there are unbearable and care more about making money than treating people with respect, and too many responsibilities tending to members / guests, employees, and the gym itself while manually checking people in.
