I have been working at Lakeshore Learning Materials full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Casual dress
    - Many of your coworkers are fun and friendly.
    - Busy days, you don't have time to be bored!
    - Employee perks: VIP scratcher cards and spin to win games, Halloween Carnival, Profit Sharing
    - You work with very passionate people who care a lot about the company
    - A great company with a great reputation

    Cons

    - Long hours, overtime is frequent
    - Lots of last minute updates and changes due to upper management's control
    - Power struggles among management lead to hostile workplaces
    - Lack of trust to employees, everything requires approval!
    - People are fired easily. The motto "You're great or you're gone" is used often. If you work hard you have nothing to worry about. But any time you make a human error, you get worried.
    - Little things get blown out of proportion

    Advice to Management

When something goes wrong, fix it! Don't spend hours having meetings about why the process failed. Hiring new managers every other month doesn't solve anything. Trust your employees to do their job and everything will go smoothly!

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Lakeshore Learning Materials full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I met a couple of nice people there.

    Cons

The 'distinctive' culture they constantly allude to has a "Stepford" kind of feel about it. I can't help but question the general ethics of long-term employees who do well at this company.

    Advice to Management

The problem seems to start from the very top, so I really don't think any 'advice to management' would be helpful. They are completely aware of what's going on!
