I worked at Landry's full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

-Opportunity for growth within the company due to its large corporate structure - Fun work environment with flexible hours - Over 400 locations to work across the U.S., making it a convenient place to work from any location

Cons

Perhaps the biggest, con about employment at Landry's is that their corporate structure often puts the company before the guests' experience which could ultimately lead to problems with certain facets of their business in the future. At most locations, Landry's hospitality programs have the feel of systematically reproduced experiences, often with little attention or care to the individual needs of each guest. Similarly, there is little consideration to the needs of their employees and very little incentive to work hard for the company as a whole. The work environment is highly competitive between individual branches and locations, often with little regard to helping each other towards a common goal and thus helping the whole company.

There is opportunity to grow within the company through the ranks of management, however those opportunities often seem distant. Furthermore, management often appears to be dissatisfied with their compensation versus their work hours. While the opportunity for growth does exist, it hardly seems worth the extra effort only to be dissatisfied with more responsibility for less pay.

Advice to Management

At the most basic level, treat your guests like individuals and care for them accordingly rather than robotically and systematically. Pay your employees more. They will work harder for you if they feel like their job is important and worth their time.

    I worked at Landry's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

50% employee discount at any Landry's location nationwide

    Cons

Management is EXTREMELY unprofessional, hourly employees (90% of employees) don't get holiday pay or time 1/2 for working on holidays, crewmembers are required to work on EVERY holiday, when they need you they will overwork you, when they don't need you they will give you NO hours and wont care how you pay your bills, all they care about is saving/making a dollar, many shifts are worked w/o a break.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to appreciate your employees. Without the employees you would not be able to run the business properly.
