I have been working at Lands' End full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Management actually cares about you and your success! Great work/life balance! Incredible support! Amazing product that the customer loves!

Cons

The shop within a store concept causes a crazy dotted line supervision battle between the store management and your LE district management. (Not difficult, just tough at times). The store side doesn't understand the LE operation.

Advice to Management

Upper management does a great job of recognizing their employees and making them feel appreciated. They dedicate the month of October to their shop leads and send little notes and gifts throughout the month. Keep up the great work!

I have been working at Lands' End as an intern

    Pros

The people were great and I was given clear direction and support to reach my goals. The health center and cafeteria are top notch. They are also working hard to make the office a sustainable environment.

    Cons

Long-term prospects are stated in an unclear fashion. Dodgeville is a little far from Madison at about 45 minute drive. The company is controlled by Sears, which leaves a sense of uncertainty in its future.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Core group of people are committed, dedicated and truly care about the customer and other employees.

    Cons

Sears ownership has increasingly had a negative impact on business and morale. Unrealistic financial goals leads to daily micro-management and unlimited promotions to move product. No bonuses even in a record profit year because bar was so high. Product has changed to be what LE designer's want to wear not what the customer wants. Benefits slowly declining to be "average" rather than a key selling point for working in remote area of Wisconsin.

    Advice to Management

Break away from Sears Holdings anyway possible to allow freedom to build the brand back to what it can/should be.
