Work hard PTO hard - Senior Staff Geologist Langan Engineering and Environmental Services Employee Review

      Pros

Great comp time system, so if you work overtime you can accrue more time off than your base 2 or 3 weeks (this is limited to staff level, not project managers). Very supportive of mentorship, professional development, and involvement in external organizations.

      Cons

Annoyingly focused on one's billable metrics, sometimes on a weekly basis. Work/life balance can be a challenge at the pace that expect staff to work.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re happy to hear you have benefited from Langan’s industry-leading overtime and compensatory time benefits. It sounds like you are also taking great advantage of our professional development offerings, both internally and externally. We recognize that optimizing billable time in the professional services industry can be challenging at times – however, we are pleased to provide a work environment that offers work schedule flexibility, hybrid work options, a robust wellbeing program, and other benefits to balance work/life.

          Pros

The company provides a satisfactory work experience. The compensation is great for some, par for others. Bonuses are distributed two to three times a year although they are not near what they promote. The training offered is acceptable and the Mentor Program is commendable.

          Cons

The compensation does not align with the level of work performed and years of experience. Despite claims of fair pay across the organization, I remain skeptical. Despite HR's claims that high bonuses (10-15% of salary) will offset the lower base salary, my experience reveals that actual bonuses typically amount to around 3%. This stark difference leads me to believe that the initial statement is false. Engineers tend to advance rapidly within the company, despite exhibiting poor work ethic and questionable principles. The organization promotes work-life balance, but it often results in some individuals taking advantage of personal time, leaving others to pick up the workload. Furthermore, there seems to be a clique mentality where only those in the "in group" are considered important. There appears to be a significant turnover rate within the company

        Interview Tips

Do you experience that how long the hiring process would take at Thermo Fisher? I got my second interview with hiring manager at the beginning of November but I haven’t heard nothing from them. When I’ve emailed them to check in they just said that the process would be slow, no time frame. I would be able to get an offer soon from other company but work as contractor. Should I wait for Thermo Fisher?

Booz Allen Hamilton Recently applied and I've been referred for an interview! Any tips on interviewing with Booz Allen? And if I am being asked to complete clearance and background upfront, is this a good indicator for being hired?

Applied for a job a few weeks back, got a call from HR yesterday morning about an interview next week. She mentioned she'd shoot me an email with all the interview details, but so far, my inbox is empty. Assuming I'll hear from her early next week, is it normal for them to expect me to show up for an in-person interview on short notice, like couple days?
