Pros

Flexible hours in many cases, overtime if you need it. Likelihood of long-term employment and short downtime between projects. Owner is gruff but direct and makes himself clear, which is actually very important.

Cons

It's a temp agency for lawyers, and workers are temps. The risk of quick termination of projects can hang over your head for months. It's not a job that looks good on a resume. Oh and the work is usually very very boring.

Advice to Management

They could manage expectations of their clients a little more proactively -- some expect the world in 40 hours a week. A few "how to handle temps" rules might smooth out projects, reduce turnover, and create happier people and better results.

I have been working at Legalsource as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a job, and I didn't have any other option at the time. Contract work is fine if you don't want to take work home with you, and can move from project to project without much down time.

    Cons

Pay was below market, despite the claims of the owner who said that we were paid above-market rate. Same guy describes employees as commodities, which was pretty off-putting.

    Advice to Management

I'm pretty sure this company has since been purchased by a larger group, so hopefully management is under the control of somebody who treats their contract attorneys like people, instead of replaceable goods. Many contract attorneys are not happy with where their career is, so a little bit of compassion and consideration goes a really long way.
