Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute part-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Good benefits as it is a public institution. Great place if you like imparting knowledge to students. Find your specialty (vocational area) and stick to it.

Cons

Might have to spend more time contacting parents as more students than normal need to be motivated to work and there are increased behavioral issues over an "academic" high school.

Advice to Management

Perhaps focus more on making this school a place students earn the right to attend and not focus as much on retaining every student possible to maximize revenue.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

After being with the organization a while, the base salary is average for other schools in the area. Retirement and benefits are the real reasons people stay. The low cost of health insurance is the real keeper.

    Cons

Morale is gone. At one time this facility was a shining star. It now feels like a bottomless black hole. There is never any real movement towards overall improvement of building wide issues.
Work is piled onto those who know what they are doing, and those that don't, or refuse to learn are never "encouraged' to do better. You will be pigeon holed. Once hired, unless you are upper level, you won't advance anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Don't rely solely on the personal integrity of your employees to maintain the standards that were created here. Hold people accountable for their lack of performance, and help them to become better.
