Doesn't Recommend

Pros

Products are fantastic and technically very good.
Great work/life ethic – good flexi system
Openness is encouraged and you can challenge senior managers
Good exposure to customers and lots of foreign travel can be found on the right projects.
Company supports chartership

Cons

Board of Directors are all waiting for retirement and are in for an ‘easy ride’ therefore life is easy for middle mgrs but not challenging.
Senior Mgrs are stagnated and there is little opportunity to progress upwards due to lack of new business for individuals to take on and develop.
Very poor at marketing therefore a few new contracts are won to work on.
The company is institutionally ageist it is nigh impossible to get onto the executive scheme if you are under 30.

Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead wood who don’t contribute anything to the organisation and those whom are holding on for retirement.

Former Employee - Design Engineer in Pomigliano d'Arco (Italy)

    Pros

Alenia is the biggest aerospace company in Italy. It is well know worldwide in the sector and it has important collaborations with Boeing, Airbus, Sukohi and others.
The company is quite stable and, up to know, it did not incur in any substantial crisis.
Once you get inside, unless you are not so ambitious, you have found a lifetime job.

    Cons

Not so much importance given to the professional growth. In some cases, it can take several years to get a promotion, even if you are brilliant.
The work environment is not the best among those I worked in.
The management is composed by old people, and tends to change too often.

    Advice to Management

To give more space to the contribution of young people.
