I worked at Level 3 Communications full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great dedicated people, who put their hearts into their work. All the departments genuinely want to be able to help, even when something may not be their primary responsibility.

Cons

Management is pushing to move faster, do more with less, etc. The result may be something that works, but won't scale with the changing times or additional customer needs.

Advice to Management

Walk around, learn the problems that are common and fix them. Don't press to accelerate until you have cleared the road ahead. Sr. Management should set the direction, clear the obstacles, and provide the lift to let the Directors and below coordinate the inter-departmental dependencies and move at maximum speed.

    I worked at Level 3 Communications full-time

    Pros

They have up to date systems and are constantly trying to improve them. Salary is very competitive.

    Cons

Follow through doesn't usually happen. They set a timeline for a project and meet it at all costs even if the project isn't really complete. That creates issues after launch with many systems bugs and issues that need to be fixed after go live. Employees work like crazy to meet the deadline and still the project is a bust.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic timelines and treat employees honestly and with respect.
