I worked at Levi Strauss full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great culture and exciting, the location is nice and there's a lot of challenges that allow for learning experiences.

Cons

Often times poor behavior by employees is tolerated in lieu of good numbers. Not a place that promotes personal growth. Very click-y.

Advice to Management

Please attempt to coach managers that breed negativity and aren't interested in their team members personal growth. You'll get the most out of your employees if they are treated with respect and rewarded for their positive work. Don't just focus on what is wrong because often employees aren't being directed properly.

    Pros

Amazing product and brand with rich heritage and strong committment to quality; talented men's design team and innovative marketing team

    Cons

Disconnected leadership, weak and disingenuous CEO, no retention and career planning, disfunctional and backstabbing culture - especially at the worldwide leadership level, siloed culture, unclear vision

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to grow by cutting costs; show more respect and regard for your master brand "Levi's"; get a CEO who is respected, consistent and engaged; place more value on innovation and design; build an HR structure that pays attention to retention and career growth

I have been working at Levi Strauss full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Levi Strauss & Co. is an old company with a rich heritage. A company with brands that many people connect with in a big way. It's the real deal in terms of apparel manufacturers and there are many great jobs in the company. Pay is competitive. Experience is well respected in the industry should you need to go somewhere else. Fantastic culture at the home office.

    Cons

There really isn't any job security, and there hasn't been over many years. It's been quite difficult to plan a career at Levi's as there is no guarantee that you'll stay there; the company has been through multiple reorganizations. The Dallas, Milwaukee, Chicago, and NYC sales offices are run by an old mentality, but not terrible as company values of flexibility and sustainability are still present in some capacity.

    Advice to Management

Find a balance in SG&A and don't hire so aggressively during a boon. People need to be able to plan a career without fear of losing their jobs every five years! Ensure strong communications and celebrate young peoples' insights.
