I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Training, colleagues are supportive of one another.

Cons

It does not offer the tools that sales people need to be successful such as a CRM that actually works. Further, there are too many sales people working the same account (different products) and they call on the same people. As a result, it becomes difficult to schedule appointments and this creates an environment in which the reps are competing for the clients' time. Salaries and commissions are quite low.

Advice to Management

There are some things such as those mentioned above that could be addressed quite simply and would make a big difference in your employees' productivity.

    Pros

    Friendly people, good atmosphere. Can't speak for corporate, only local division. Good BLSS leadership.

    Cons

    Departments are still in silos. Problems are "somebody else's" and sharing of loads between groups can be painful.

    Advice to Management

    Find a better office building. 15+ years is way too long to be in one spot; the facilities are not laid out in a way to inspire creativity or interaction. Stop letting the small clients dictate our priorities; be proactive rather than reactive. Say "no" or "pay us to do it" when clients want something out of scope for free.

    Pros

    Great team and middle management. Dedicated, smart people, though many of them are contractors and not full-time employees. Decent salaries and benefits. Large, reputable corporation behind this division.

    Cons

    Poor upper management and little to no communication with employees at large. A major shift is taking place that employees know about but management will not reveal, killing morale. Lots of water cooler doom talk. Rumors of further layoffs. Seemingly no day-to-day management of workforce. No path for future advancement, except maybe for MBA/think tank types.

    Advice to Management

    See cons and address those, if improving this company is a priority that management is interested in.
