I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Flexible schedule, good benefits. Can be very interesting work.

Cons

Long, long, long hours are the norm. Certain departments (Editorial) are in constant fear of layoffs. Layoffs never seem to get the true dead wood. The culture of layoffs and down-sizing does not bring out the best in the workforce. The general consensus is that Mike Walsh is very ill-suited to his job.

Advice to Management

Mike Walsh, please move on before you drive this business completely into the ground.

I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work vs life balance. Nice cafeteria and not expensive. Sports groups. Concerned about employee well being. Employee perks. Nice pay.

    Cons

Very frustrating to work here because regardless of how good you are at what you do and how much you try to do things right or better, that will never happen because they rely on off-shore developers too much.

Project managers lack technical knowledge and understanding big time, and have no interest in continue learning. They all have many years in the company and that's how they get by since they are friends with many people. It makes everything go extremely slow.

Same thing with Managers, no understanding of technology and no desire to learn.

    Advice to Management

There's really no advice to management because it suffers from the same issues described in the Cons section.

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a good job the provides a lot of social interaction and keeps your legal research skills sharp. It's a great job if you like to help people or teach.

    Cons

Some things are beyond your control and you have no office or coworkers next to you so it's really easy to get distracted if your not vigilant.

    Advice to Management

Keep rewarding us and don't judge us on things outside our control.
