I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Great management, very bright people. It is a sink or swim environment where people are exceptionally motivated. Overall, everyone wants you to succeed, and will take time to answer your questions.

Cons

Due to the high expectations, it can be stressful at times and you feel like you need to work longer hours. Not a lot of exposure to the executive management, which can make you feel like your work is not being noticed.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are dedicated and work hard Liberty Mutual pays well to reward you. I started off with an extra salary boost for already having an insurance license. Your first year there is the opportunity to get a promotion 6 months after training based on performance, your 1 yr review, and annual salary review so you can gets 3 raises in your first year! There is also a profit sharing program that pays you based on how much the company makes each year and that is a separate bonus check.

    Cons

Calls centers are difficult. Many people think they are too good to work in a call center and some of the other departments such as business analysts will treat you like dirt. Work life balance is also a little difficult here. Shift includes 1 weekend day, either Saturday or Sunday but its nearly impossible to get that day approved off. You can take off all the Tuesdays or Wednesdays you want though. They also threaten mandatory overtime and are making us work both Saturday and Sunday during high call volume times instead of just hiring more people.

    Advice to Management

Many managers are in charge of reviewing their own teams which in turn helps their own pay. Certain managers are known to be lenient in order to make themselves look better. I think other managers should be doing the QA and your own manager should only be responsible for coaching and feedback.

    Cons

management and reorg. There are good managers but also many mediocre and poor managers. There are managers who do nothing and steal work from reports.

    Advice to Management

hire the right people for management positions.
