    Pros

There are some great managers and senior management. If you report to them, it is a very rewarding place to work. Working from home (like 1x per week) & flexible scheduling is possible depending on manager.

The company provides a lot of training opportunities.

    Cons

There are some members of management who only care about themselves. They can impede on work/life balance.

It's a large company, so the typical red tape can be a hassle.

"Great company in 2007-2010. Sales goals more then doubled in recent years making it difficult to hit sales goals."

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pros are that you get a base salary and then you get a monthly bonus of $1,160.00 if you hit goal for that month. In addition to the bonus pay, you would also potentially get a "conversion" bonus, which rewarded you additional money if you were able to close a high number of your calls. (Example: sell 30/100 quotes, and your conversion is 30%, so if you hit your sales goal and got the standard $1,160.00 for the month, you would also get an additional 30% on top of the $1,160.00 for having a high conversion.) In addition you also get a quarterly bonus for quality assurance. So if you had an average of 88 or higher for QA, you would get 10% of your total bonuses for that quarter paid to you as well. Also, if you hit sales goal, every policy after that paid out much better, like $60-$70 per policy. The bad thing is if you didn't hit goal and you missed it by even one policy, the payout was much less. Instead of $1,160.00 being paid, you'd get around maybe $750-800, all for just being one policy short. So the goal was to at least hit the base goal for the month.

    Cons

Cons were that the goals went up tremendously in the last few years, while the payout for bonus stayed essentially the same. If the goal was 30 policies in December 2009, now that same month likely requires you to sell 60 policies and the payout is still $1,160.00. So years ago you would have gotten $1,160.00 for selling 30 policies, and now you must sell 60 policies for that same amount. Years ago if you had sold 60 with a goal of 30, you would have been 30 over goal. So you would have gotten 1,160.00, plus $60-$80 per policy times 30, and you would have brought home two or three thousand, now you will definitely not see that kind of bonus.

    Advice to Management

Lower goals back to reasonable levels.
