I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Plenty of resources
Smart colleagues
Outstanding benefits
Annual bonus, pension, 401k match
Lots of opportunity for upward growth

Cons

Highly regulated industry = very slow and cautious processes
Not much diversity
Compensation tends to be slightly lower than average, although benefits make up for it
Office atmosphere is a little stodgy and uptight

Advice to Management

Technology is changing your customer's lives and you need to keep up with the outside world.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Competitive pay
    -Nice coworkers
That's all I have for you

    Cons

No work life balance: 37.5 hours...not in this group
Understaffed: realistically needs 5 accountants, right now there are 3
Overworked: see understaffed. Won't higher more than 4 because of the "budget". Billion dollar company, ridiculous answer.
High stress: due to being understaffed and high volume of workload, the tight deadlines for everything have you going nonstop all day everyday. If you don't want a minute to breath, this is the spot for you. The best part is they want detailed, thorough work yet pile everything on you and expect that to happen. You can have it both ways.

    Advice to Management

Hire a full stuff so you don't lose the group completely. There is a lot of work that moves through this group so it's a very valuable position to the company. From what I hear other groups aren't like this and people tend to enjoy working for the company. Maybe it's just the department

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has excellent benefits with time off, 401K matching, and health benefits. There are many opportunities and a wide range of positions. Jobs are relatively secure and work life balance is considered.

    Cons

Want to achieve and produce? You won't see much for it. Promotions for performance? Not really--you won't be picked unless you apply. Your career is in your hands, but slow growth is the norm here. Set your sights on senior management from the bottom?--forget it. The common theme among executives is that they aren't homegrown.

    Advice to Management

There are no formal, anonymous review of managers by their direct reports. This is inherently flawed and needs to change. Secondly, in regards to the college rotational programs, there needs to be active career development on the part of the program leaders--stagnant development just doesn't cut it.
