Approves of CEO

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

- Given tools to succeed and grow within current role, or in other groups within the company
- Excellent compensation relative to surrounding companies
- Does not feel like the typical large insurance company with much more progressive thinking since the recent reorganization
- Good corporate direction with management that is transparent in their long and short term strategy

Cons

- For some reason we still wear suits in the Boston office, but not in any other location
- Personally haven't found many negatives

Advice to Management

Continue with transparency and focus on using technology to improve business model.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pleasant work environment and I am sure since 1962 when I was hired the pay scale has increased!!!

    Cons

I can't really remember any except that once a week we had to clean our "ugly grey" desks with cleanser because the "big wigs" were coming through and we all noticed that not one of those people ever spoke a work to any employee in the office except the ones they came to see.

    Advice to Management

Listen and take time to get to know your employees on a friend to friend basis rather than just some who "does a job for you". You will have better employees that way in my opinion when you treat them as equals.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits, internal mobility, community involvement, and many resources at your fingertips.

    Cons

In the Boston HQ the culture can at times, be very elitist/arrogant, you only move up if you suck up, bad behaviors by managers are never addressed, depending on the dept. in which you work LM is very political, flexible work arrangements do exist but are not granted to all, and too many female "bullies" in senior management roles.
