Advice to Management

Quit trying to maximize bonus on the backs of sales reps and at the expense of clients

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Large company. Good retirement plan.

    Cons

No work life balance. Horrible renewal commission (95% of annual income is based on new business) Rates are set by state and if you happen to be in a state that has tightened the belt you will starve. Impossible to move roles once in the sales role. Rampant and accepted unethical procedures. Poor managers who don't know the job. I work for a direct manager who never sold and an area manager who never sold. If you cheat well, steal from your coworkers, and lie to customers you will be a star in this company. If not you will hate life.

    Advice to Management

Hire less warm bodies and try to keep the people who their job ethically.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time

    Pros

Nationwide, multi-lines, typically strong training, outside schooling, opportunities for advancement, opportunities to change direction/department/expertise, competitive.

    Cons

recent change in philosophy/branding (phasing out the regional names/companies that strictly dealt with independent agencies), this is also a pro as it takes advantage of the NAME. Office realignment/location has been somewhat fluid. Lack of resources and support to areas/departments that are not in the long term plans.

    Advice to Management

Utilize your resources and do business like a top 100 company in all aspects of the business. If a department is worth having/opening the commitment to it should be 100%.
