Pros

LIfe Technologies has some of the brightest and hardest workers. Compensation (salary and bonus) is usually consistent with the industry norm. The corporate culture is one of aggressive and rapid change.

Cons

Senior management is driven by short-term goals. The constant change (organizational and strategy) does not allow for these changes to be adequately implemented and adopted. Health benefits are sub-standard.

Advice to Management

The senior leadership needs to commit to a plan and stick with it. Ideas for dramatic change should come from outside the company, as current management is limited to current ideas.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

At Life Tech you get to be a part of amazing science, and get great benefits. The co-workers are friendly, and the work place is very cooperative. You definitely feel like you are making a difference.

    Cons

There is little in work/life balance if you wish to progress at this company. To move up in the organization, you must ask for opportunities, and work more hours than is healthy. Compensation is based on Life Sciences, when many of the positions are technology oriented.

    Advice to Management

The middle management blocks important messages from the ground making it to the top, for fear that it will make them look bad. Spend some time talking to your most productive non-managers and top performers.
