Advice to Management

Multiple re-orgs do very little. More empowerment to the shop floor is necessary and needed.

I worked at Life Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good products
    - Open communication accross the company
    - Possibililty to change jobs and career
    - Some good and very committed people in the lower ranks

    Cons

    - The vision is not suppported by any good plan the company is confident , willing and capable to follow through for long enough to see results. Practically the results ends up being quick fix for current problems at the expense of long term thinking. This translates in generation of new issues,
constant change in priority and organization affecting people.
    - The fast pace action oriented organization claim returns little net effective movement

    Advice to Management

Select Senior executive from Life Technolgies or the industry with the experience and gravitas to design solid plans and stand for them, less cronyism.
Realize the constant attrition voluntary or not is costing the company a lot and amounts to building sand castles.

    Pros

Very progressive and aggressive company in the biotechnology space. Average pay for the industry. A place for intellects (PhD and M.Sc. level scientists).

    Cons

Leadership can be too secretive and last-minute changes were frequent.

    Advice to Management

Take the advice for in-house employee surveys to heart. Put this information into best practice.
