Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Life Technologies as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

The people here are the best part of the job. They're friendly, helpful and overall just a great group of coworkers to have.

Cons

Big corporate culture, upper management is an isolated entity, no mutual communications or understanding. Job security is nonexistent.

Advice to Management

Open your doors to people, attempt to get to know the people who perform the handy jobs and their concerns.

I have been working at Life Technologies as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Culture is great
    - Employees are extremely kind and helpful
    - Some very distinguished individuals work here (CEO on Forbes Top 25), which makes it a great place to build your personal network and learn from the elite
    - Many perks as an intern (free company swag, baseball game, socials, paid holidays, etc.)
    - Facilities are extremely nice (basketball full court, soccer field, volleyball pit, cafeteria, etc.)
    - Life Tech has many different sectors so an intern can get an insight on any division if they take the initiative
    - HR really cares about making your time worthwhile and is open to suggestions and improvements

    Cons

Company is extremely large and people are scattered all over the place (among 3 buildings), so if you want to build relationships at the work place, you have to make an effort.

    Advice to Management

For such a rewarding internship and large company, the intern program needs to be advertised more. Like other companies and firms, intern interviews, pictures of events, quotes from interns, should all be heavily advertised and marketed on the website and college campuses. Life Tech Internship Program should be a known name.
