I worked at Lionbridge full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

If you are a good producer, you will do well here. Once "trust" is earned, depending on the manager of course, you have a lot of freedom. Longer term employees have a good amount of vacation. Lionbridge attracts a lot of industry veterans, so you will always find someone to compliment or enahnce your knowledge of the G11n process, technology, etc.

Cons

HR is by far their biggest weakness. Many questionable policies are put in place and even their HR folks themselves cross the line on PC. Sr Management has been there a very long time and therefore nothing much really new comes out of it. It gets wrapped up as new, but ultimately it is the same old same old. Politics here are HUGE! If you can't play politics, this is not a place you would want to promote in!

Advice to Management

Nothing I say is what hadn't been said before - Middle management listens, but don't think upper management does - it is liek the emperor's new clothes. Some real, personal acknowledgement of accomplishments go a long way, and not incentivizing by shame. Smaller, token raises also would show people are an asset - Don't wait to offer people you do like and value quit to offer them a raise - the damage is done. These people leave because they feel undervalued and underappreciated. Proactively provide them this token appreciation and you can save a lot of good people.

I have been working at Lionbridge full-time

    Pros

If you have a valuable skillset and are outgoing, no one is stopping your progress. For people who are young or who have already had great careers LB provides a place where expectations are not extremely demanding.

    Cons

Unfortunately, if you want to progress - it will have to be outside Lionbridge because they do not provide skill training and career advancement is limited. Each project varies dramatically by client as there is not a strong "Lionbridge" culture.

    Would they listen?

    Pros

    Depends on project....chilled work

    Cons

Poor apprasials....management can and will play sneaky tactics, if required....
I was permanent employee. Not so good place if you are contractor.
