I worked at Liquidity Services full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The company experiments with different things. The experiments fail more often than not, and I found those failures to be much more instructive than our successes. I learned a lot about business during my time there.

Cons

If you are interviewing at LSI, ask this question to every person you see: are you happy here? Watch their body language as they answer and draw your own conclusions.

I would estimate that 50% are miserable, 20% are very unhappy, and the remaining 30% don't particularly care about work ("whatever, it's a job").

Advice to Management

You wrestle with the question of why your people underperform. It's because they are unhappy. They are unhappy because of your management style. You have managers who take pride in making people cry. You know this and yet you hold them up as examples of top performers.

To the CEO, inter divisional politics are tearing your company apart from the inside. You need to take a more active role to get things back on track.

It needs a lot of work on culture, leadership programs and advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Need to provide support to their employees and good, clear direction.

  2. "A low class company with limited future prospects."

    Pros

    Office location in downtown Washington.

    Cons

Poor company culture. The company is highly fragmented, which is unusual due to its small size. Resources are spread thin amongst a portfolio of failing projects.

Company is a one trick pony, and that one trick can easily be made obsolete.

Company has had 10+ years of failure when attempting to compete with its peers in the open market.

    Advice to Management

Consolidate operations and technology. Encourage more hands on management.
