I worked at Loblaw Companies part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a pretty relaxed atmosphere. The hours are much more flexible than any other job. (I decided to only work 2 days a week when life got busy).

    Cons

Management is horrible. Extra favours and promotion given to those who suck up. Pay was a joke and included union fee deductions which were a huge portion of my pay check. Amount of raise was something like 20 cents per 100 hours worked or something which never counted since minimum wage increased faster than that and it would reset. Job was high stress and the pay was not worth having customers yell at you about things out of your control like prices scanning wrong.

I have been working at Loblaw Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They offer fairly decent starting salaries for deparment managers and fairly good benefit plans. Prescriptions are covered 100% if purchased at instore pharmacy.

    Cons

They treat their department managers like slaves, as if they own them. There is no work/life balance. Managers in my department are forced to work 10+ hours daily and then must call the Store manager or ASM's for permission to leave.

    Advice to Management

Treat your deparment managers with respect and dignity. Congratulations on a job well done once in a while goes a long way.
