Pros

The support and products that are made go directly to supporting our troops working to defend our country. That is a rewarding feeling to know you are making a difference.

Cons

DoD funds are going to be tight and work levels are dropping off. A lot of people leaving the company because of the slow down in work. Leadership changes are a non stop revolving door.

Advice to Management

Simplify and Consistency

    Pros

Challenging roles; very patriotic company to work for. The bar is set high and this encourages you to to learn more, do more and be better at what you do.

    Cons

It's important to recognize that with the closing of the Shuttle program, the cancellation of the F-22s and many other government budget cuts, that the amount of work that LM can compete for has been drastically reduced. As a result, the company is looking at other avenues, healthcare and security, for example, as new market niches to explore. This puts the company in a state of flux as it appears to be struggling to figure out what it should look like in the future. It appears as though its going towards more contractor-centric, where they are not held to long-term employees, but can roll on/roll off workforce as necessary. LM has had several layoffs in various areas of their businesses over the past 3 years. If you're interviewing, a key question would be: how long is funding planned for this position? Beware that budget cuts loom ahead.

    Advice to Management

Understand that you can't split people across several different programs or services, because you're trying to save from hiring an extra person, and expect a good, solid focus. If you keep having people "do more with less," what you get in the end, is really...just less.
