Negative Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Loma Linda University Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

great coworkers; trauma 1 level meaning a lot of unusual and exciting cases; an educational institution meaning good learning experiences

Cons

low salary, heavy workload due to budget cuts; management heavy--meaning there are too many bosses draining the money from adequate floor staff.

Advice to Management

You need to take better care of your floor staff. They come in direct contact of your patients, therefore portraying an overall image of your hospital. Invest in more staff and keep within nursing ratios instead of cutting staff and increasing workload.

    Pros

You can meet people with good family backgrounds.

    Cons

Low hourly pay rate compared to other hospitals. Expensive health insurance.
What is preached there isnt always what is done towards staff.
The allowance of personal/ Love relationship between staff working in same unit same shift really makes me SICK and managemnt does ZERO about it. This will be pursued soon.

    Advice to Management

stop making unnecessarry changes in the units/hospital just to make yourself look good. Most of these changes mean NOTHING.

    Pros

Christian institution, staff & much of management some of the nicest people you may want to meet. Excellent orientation and training, especially for new graduates

    Cons

Lots of micromanagement, insurance plans and benefits not comparable to many other institutions. Annual reviews not reflective of the work performed. Advanced practice nursing does not appear to be valued

    Advice to Management

Trust your support staff, bring in non-Loma Linda graduates to bring more diversity to the institution. There are more ways to do things than the Loma Linda way.
