Pros

Family-friendly, great company to work for. You get what you give, for the most part. The majority of employees receive recognition for their contributions to the company. I would definitely recommend working for Loram MoW, Inc.

Cons

There are a few middle managers that take free rides on the backs of their hard-working employees, and take credit for work that they contributed nothing to.

Advice to Management

Recognize the dead weight in middle management and clean out the people that are profiting from the hard work of their dedicated subordinates.

I worked at Loram full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Best place to work, if you like travelling and no family.

    Cons

Travelling all the time . every two weeks. 3 months on road and two weeks unpaid off.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. Hear what they need. It's completely different story on the tracks.

I have been working at Loram full-time

    Pros

Get to travel to lots of new places and meet a lot of new people. You also get to learn about different types of mechanical systems and it is good experience for a future career with the railroad

    Cons

Low wages for the work, away from home 6 weeks or more, can be very long hours, no breaks on some days

    Advice to Management

Stop wondering why the turnover rate is so high, start increasing the wages for your experienced people and offer more time off at home, stop hiring people with zero mechanical skills and find people who are fit for the job and pay them more than someone who works at mcdonalds
