I have been working at Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Establishing core group of hourlys, store runs efficient and can be fun and profitable for all.

Cons

Consistent descrepencies with manual invoices; archaic ordering and inventory system. Where's the recyclable non profit income from cardboard and plastic? Pray your GM is a teacher, if not, stuck with the vulnerability stigma. Sea gull management approach towards stores, that is, fly in every three months, review prior three months, give lots of notes and fly out.

Advice to Management

Emails are a babysitting reminder for AAs and MMs not invoicing properly. Monthly inventory should include product inventory counts added vs dollar amount only, hence better onhand ordering accuracy, eliminating unnecessay redunancy of counting product everyday. MMs ought to have GMs as mentors not fellow MM.

I have been working at Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Vacation after 6 months
Health insurance and employee bonus system
    Meal discounts
Fairly consistent schedule at my store
    Advancement opportunities
    Fast growing company
    Usually honor timely requests off

    Cons

Poor hiring choices and no drug test for store employees which contributes to the fact
Management too lenient of problem employees and call ins
9.00$ starting pay sounds good but is not nearly good enough to deal with some of the rudest and nastiest customers retail can see (truckers)
Regional managers and other management above the store level care only about procedure and finding things wrong with the store.

    Advice to Management

DMs and other higher ups micro manage way to much.
It's often easy to tell if somebody is on drugs. Don't hire them
Cut problem employees loose. Do not expect drama factories and bad employees to change.
Upper management needs to give stores more freedom to make own decisions for good of the store. Too concerned with the inevitable high turnover rate to cut problem employees loose.

    Pros

Great pay, awesome team, great customers

    Cons

Total lack of communication from corporate management

    Advice to Management

Live up to the same standards you impose on people at the store level.
