Employee Review

Lowes is a good company to work for except their rate of pay.

    Pros

The best thing about working for Lowes is the benefits. They off stock at a 15% discount for employees, 401K, they match 100% up the first 3%, 50% match up to 5% and 25% at 6%. They also offer dental, vision, and medical as well as many others.

    Cons

The worst thing I have found in working for Lowes is the rate of pay for a college graduate with experience in the business. Just as any retail job, the hours can be hard, especially if you work until 11:00pm and have to be back at 5:00am the next morning. Sometimes manager favorites can be hard to deal with also.

    Toxic work environment. No growth.

    Pros

Lowes is an equal opportunity employer, though if you do have a disability it’s not easy to get the accommodations you need to perform your job. I was looking forward to training on equipment. Training for equipment took far too long. That I was not able to perform some of my job duties for several months. When brought up to management they said “you wouldn’t want to do that anyways”. I did, that’s why I asked. Being able to assist costumers and provide them with confident service was a joy. Never had an issue with a costumer. Easy going job duties, though wouldn’t expect to get anywhere in a few years.

    Cons

At this specific location, I have never been surrounded by so much negativity. Wether due to the lack of authority or regard of it. Several long term team members seemed to rule the service team, with disregard from our manager. Has made this job more of a hell hole than an actual job of preference . Working with disabilities and also being ridiculed by “my team” was not what I thought I was signing up for. Coming down with an illness and then deciding not to return due to the sort of environment, then being laughed at upon that be announced, is not the place I desire to be. I’m happy I left.
