I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

Pros

the management was always able to accommodate any situation for you to be able to work or earn enough hours. they never ask more than your capable of.

Cons

most employees who do the bare minimum are not held accountable for their slacking and sadly the better employees have to pick up the slack.

Advice to Management

hold everyone to the same standard; management and down.

    Pros

    Rotating schedule. Fast paced. Challenging.

    Cons

    Rotating schedule. The policy change of ending commissions. Lack of proper staffing.

    Advice to Management

    The staffing issue is the biggest concern. Lowe's is losing revenue by under-staffing departments. Other unintended results of the staffing policy is to create an environment where the employees are stretched to the point that mistakes are made and the best employees leave.

    I have been working at Lowe's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    For the most part it is a good job for a college student. If you can suck up to management enough to get a flexible enough schedule. Benefits are great for part time employees. Discounts for employees and spouses.

    Cons

    Don't expect much from management. Training is nonexistent. Cashiers are expected to multi task to the point of exasperation. Loading, bending, stocking, facing, and cleaning bathrooms, sweeping stairs, empty garbage as well as checking out customers. You stand for long hours on concrete floors and favoritism is HIGH among management and supervisors. If you can stand sucking up to get decent hours then this job is for you. If the ability to "brown nose" is beyond what you can handle then look for another company.
    Scheduling is a nighmare. Consistantly scheduling students for times when they know they are unavailable. Took over 4 months for them to get my schedule right.
    If the store wasn't so close to my home/school I would have left a long time ago.

    Advice to Management

    Don't forget your roots. You were once low man on the pole. Talk to your employees, work along side them once in awhile instead of hiding out in an office.
