I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Easy job. Discount on products and special pricing on certain items.

Cons

It is retail, anyone can do this job. It is hard to stand out. Management doesn't care about employees, but rather the bottom line. Commission was cut out in February of 2012, which cut most appliance sales specialist salaries by $7,000-15,000. Unless you get into management, most companies wont give much value for your experience.

Advice to Management

Work in a store department for one day, without management responsibilities and it will open your eyes about what associates deal with everyday. Do not be afraid to get your hands dirty as a manager, employees will respect you much more.

    Pros

Good ethics and strong experienced leadership. Fair pay and regular annual raises.

    Cons

More mature company with less growth means less room for advancement and less open positions. Office politics where people know each other or are even related.

    Advice to Management

Be more open about reorganizations. Reduce office politics. Be more willing to pay better to keep more loyal and talented employees.

    I worked at Lowe's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers were nice and the discounts were good. They are located all over Albuquerque and shouldn't be hard to find one in your area.

    Cons

Management has issues with communication. I would often times be told two separate things from different managers. I would make sure I get it in writing before proceeding.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and make sure you work on your communication.
