    I worked at Lowe's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employee discount. Able to meet people. Helping customers can be fun. Part time job for extra money.

    Cons

Sales associates are treated as liabilities. When I started in 2008. We were treated as assets. Then they started taking away things like commission and spiffs. It only got worse from there. Everyday you felt like you had a bulls eye on your head. If they don't like you they will find a reason to get rid of you. I worked there part time for 5 years. I was never written up or reprimanded for anything. They used a safety violation to terminate me with no warning.
Having to work as they only one in the department. Having hours cut when sales are slow. Being given tasks that are impossible to complete in the time allotted. Management that doesn't manage.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your employees better. The sales associates are the ones who work with the customers everyday. They are the ones who make the sales that get management their bonuses. Schedule enough employees to cover a shift. Pay a decent wage. It took me 5 years to go from $10 to $12 an hour. Don't promote employees just because you like them or they suck up to you.
