Their computer software and technology the store uses is outdated and hard to learn. They also work their management to hard

    I have been working at Lowe's part-time

    Pros

Most of the employees and managers are nice. The pay is the best in my area for retail work.

    Cons

They do not train you for your specific job before they put you out on the floor. They let people in departments just stand around all day doing nothing and don't say anything to them about it.

    Advice to Management

How is a new employee supposed to answer questions if they don't know anything about the items them self? It's also pointless to just walk around taking customers to someone else in the store all day. It just makes us look stupid or like we don't know anything when the customer could just ask someone that works in a specific department and get useful answers to their questions. It's not an effective position. I really would rather be assigned to one department and be assigned specific tasks.

I have been working at Lowe's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Managers are OK and can relate to the employee ok.

    Cons

New scheduling is bad - maybe 2 days in a row off once a month if you're lucky - usually will happen at 5 - 6 weeks of split days off. Rotating and varied schedule - diff every week now. All new employee only hired as part time status 10 - 30 hrs only and at low pay even with experience. No commission positions anymore.

    Advice to Management

Need to acknowledge the fact your going to have to pay for knowledge that the customer is starting to expect now that CSA's - at least the knowledgeable ones - are in place and when they come back for advice on their next fix-it/project.
Corporate needs to get back to listening to CSA and dept personel as to what is being asked for - on multiple occasions usually - that Lowes doesnt or quit stocking.
Specifically at Lowes in Folsom Ca., water bibs, galvy & gas pipe, hose clamps 1/2 isle should not be hidden on garbage can isle - should switch with drainage products(never shopped) so as to be on a more shopped isle with pvc/abs/copper/pex/etc - duh......
