Pros

Never knew what to expect, kept busy, learned a lot, had safety parties, met cool people

Cons

Went under appreciated, and checked up on too often, and management was inconsistent

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    most of the customers are great and I learned how not to run a business

    Cons

    too much favoritism and back stabbing much like High School. Most people are happy when they are first employed there but they get the life sucked out of them when they find only the chosen one's will get anywhere.

    Advice to Management

    a few of the management staff was great but most acted like they had their brains removed and the job went to their heads. try to treat your employees like people!

    I have been working at Lowe's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Optimistic atmosphere. Great continuous training. Lots of room for promotion. Managers are trained well to encourage rather than scold. Managers are very personable and easy to talk to. They truly care about your personal well being and feelings. Great pay for a big box retailer with annual raises. Amazing learning experience in sales.

    Cons

    Be prepared to lift a lot of heavy things. If you are part time, forget about a guaranteed amount of hours, even if they are promised. Full time hours on the up season and 10 hours or less on the down seasons. A lot of "clopens" AKA working a 2pm-11pm shift then having to be back at the store for a 5:15am-2:15pm shift. Very hard to have requested time off, even if it is months in advance.

    Advice to Management

    Pay closer attention to uniting the store instead of creating "cliques" or openly favoring certain employees. ...It's so obvious. If an employee is truly dedicated and wants to further their career with the company, try to help them rather than declining them every time they apply for full time or a promoted position. Let them know what they can do to improve and work on to get to that position. "Clopening" on a weekday is just cruel. You expect your company to be at its full potential when your employees are sleeping 4-5 hours a night? KRONOS is terrible and should be rid of.
